Words of a Feather est un magnifique jeu convivial pour 3 à 8 joueurs. Les joueurs révèlent les mots de la réserve générale et y ajoutent leurs propres mots. Tous les joueurs essaient d'écrire les mots correspondants en se basant sur les indices fournis. Les joueurs peuvent parier leurs points s'ils se sentent sûrs d'une réponse.
Tous les joueurs commencent avec 3 mots (cartes) en main. À son tour, un joueur révèle 2 mots de la réserve générale. Le joueur actif choisit 2 mots de sa main comme indices et dit, à haute voix, un mot supplémentaire pour obtenir 3 indices. Il écrit son mot secret et tous les joueurs écrivent ensuite un mot qu'ils pensent correspondre à un autre joueur.
Tous les joueurs reçoivent 1 point s'ils écrivent un mot qui correspond à au moins un autre joueur. Le joueur actif marque 1 point pour chaque personne qui écrit le(s) même(s) mot(s) que lui. Tous les joueurs peuvent également parier 1 à 2 points de leur propre réserve. Si un joueur qui a misé rencontre un autre joueur, il double sa mise en plus des points réguliers qu'il reçoit.
Le jeu se poursuit jusqu'à ce que toutes les cartes aient disparu ou que 15 points ou plus aient été marqués.
